Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) Vice-President Datuk Herbert Timbon Lagadan said Dr Jeffery Kitingan was a cunning politician and that he once joined Umno by using a lesser known name of 'Gapari'.

"Later, his ruse was uncovered when it was revealed that Gapari was in fact himself", said Lagadan.

STAR Sabah information chief Edward Linggu later revealed that Datuk Dr Jeffrey Kitingan’s intention to join Umno a few years ago was part of a plot to destabilise Umno in the State.

According to Linggu, it was also a plot to break up Sabah Umno but unfortunately the plan was thwarted by the then Umno president, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

Meanwhile, Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) here said the emergence of Datuk Dr Jeffrey Kitingan in Sabah politics via the State Reform Party (Star) is only aimed at dividing the opposition.

Bingkor PKR committee member-cum-former Asst Chairman of the Sabah PKR Council of Elders, Robert Linggi, said the PKR's main agenda is to change the Federal Government.

"But from the way the Star is breaking the opposition pact, this vision will be harder to achieve," he said.

While he did not accuse the Star of complotting with the Barisan Nasional (BN), he said Dr Jeffrey might have a hidden agenda.
